Cosy Clico warms up to winter

With the winter season well on its way, Clico Guesthouse is making full use of its cosy, intimate and personalised features.
General Manager, Lesley Plutsick, says guests are enjoying basking in the sun on their bedroom verandas or on the outside patio overlooking the pool. At night, the lounge and fireplace area is becoming more of a focal point as the winter spell approaches. “The log-fire is a favourite with our winter guests,” she says.
Many of Clico’s international visitors will be surprised by the moderate temperatures and beautiful sunny days during a Johannesburg winter. Don’t be surprised if one or two take a plunge into Clico’s pool for a winter swim.
While Clico’s cosy rooms, which include heaters in the ensuite bathrooms, will keep its guests warm on the outside, Clico chef Sean Ackermann has prepared a winter menu that will raise inner temperatures.
“I usually prepare warmer meals including soups, hot main courses and warm desserts during this time of year,” says Ackermann. “We also select more red wines in the winter months.”
Because of the night chill, Clico’s popular outdoor dinners are not served during the winter months. However, Plutsick encourages guests to have lunch outdoors in the pleasant midday sun.
